Location: The Rhythm Room is a roots, blues, & concert club in Phoenix, Arizona. It is a live music venue hosting local and national acts on a nightly basis. The Rhythm Room opened in 1991 and proprietor Bob Corritore (who hosts Those Lowdown Blues, a solid block of blues each Sunday night on KJZZ) has brought legends like R.L. Burnside and Robert Lockwood to town, often recording the onstage jam sessions for prosperity.
Food: Tantalizingly delicious New Orleans style dishes by Eat Me Catering.
Music: The Sugar Thieves have a huge cult following in Phoenix, and they are sure to get your toes tapping, fingers snapping, and hands clapping! The band is a perfect mix of American music with sounds of New Orleans, Memphis, Chicago, and Mississippi. They fuse blues, roots, folk, gospel, and a little jazz to make up one big bowl of sugar! The band features Mikel Lander on guitar, Jeff Naylor on bass, Shea Marshall on organ and saxophone, David Libman on drums, and Meridith Moore on vocals.
FUNdraising: Genesis City Blues Night will also feature a silent auction and a raffle, which will include an amazing array of offerings from exotic travel packages and delicious culinary adventures to dynamic sports events.
Luminary Awards: Our 2019 Genesis City Luminary Awards will be presented in honor of Genesis City’s prestigious supporters and one of our successful alumni.
